Kitchen Cabinets Before:Kitchen_BeforeKitchen Cabinets After:Kitchen_After

This "before" picture of black kitchen cabinets were in use for approximately 5 years before the re-painting below.

The cabinetry in the "after" picture has been painted with Old Ochre from the Annie Sloan Chalk Paint® collection, lightly distressed with sand paper, and then waxed with a glaze of Soft Clear and Soft Dark Annie Sloan waxes mixed 4 to 1.  The only preparation involved prior to application of Chalk Paint® was wiping of the cabinet surfaces with a TSP substitute to remove oil and grease.  No sanding!  No priming!

These are before (top) and after (bottom) pictures of one of Same As It Never Was recently completed custom painting projects showing the dramatic results using Annie Sloan Chalk Paint®.

With Chalk Paint®, easy updates are fast and fun! These kitchen chairs are light and airy now, painted in Antoinette with Clear and Dark Wax and upholstered in Annie Sloan's Faded Roses fabric.

Chalk Paint® was created in 1990 when Annie Sloan, an Artist, needed a decorative paint that was quick drying and could be used to paint almost anything; including old or new wood, metal, cement, bricks and more, and doing so with no prep work like sanding and priming.  It is called Chalk Paint® because of its velvety, matte finish.

This project was to paint a small mahogany side table in Chalk Paint® by Annie Sloan, intending it to become my shop printer stand. I used a 50/50 mix of Pure White and Old White. It is the color mix favored by many when painting furniture. I then wet distressed and applied a soft, color-washed stencil on top and sealed it with Annie's Soft Clear wax.

It ended up almost too pretty for a printer stand!

Charisma Salon recently remodeled their stylist stations, using French Provincial dressers and mirrors, and a buffet for their coffee station.  All the pieces are painted with Chalk Paint® by Annie Sloan and they turned out beautifully!  It gives this highly sought after Erie salon a truly unique look!

Thank you to Charisma Salon owner, Jen, for sharing the photos with us.

Same As It Never Was is excited to offer the Modern Masters Metal Effects line.

I used the Metal Effects Primer to get a cement angel ready to paint with Oxidizing Bronze and Oxidizing Copper Paint.  Once painted and allowed to dry overnight, I applied Modern Masters Blue and Green Patina, Aging Solutions and within a few minutes a beautiful verdigris started to appear and continued to bloom until the piece dried.  The results are dramatic, and with only 20 minutes of work.

A large wooden spool painted with Modern Masters Iron Reactive Paint, then rusted and re-purposed as a brush display in the paint shop.
